The Promising Study Abroad Journey of LHSS Students at Chungbuk National University, South Korea

Studying abroad has always been a dream for many Vietnamese students, especially those eager to experience a modern learning environment, develop their skills, and expand future opportunities. On March 1, 2025, eight students from the Korean Language Department of the Faculty of Language and Social Sciences (LHSS), Duy Tan University, arrived in South Korea to embark on their study abroad journey in the "Land of Kimchi" with a 100% scholarship granted by Chungbuk National University (CBNU).

Lan Byă shared her excitement: "When I found out that I had been accepted into the one-year exchange program at Chungbuk National University, I was overwhelmed with joy and pride, knowing that my efforts had paid off. This is a valuable opportunity for me to learn, experience, and grow in an international environment.

However, I am also aware of the challenges ahead, especially the language barrier when communicating with locals, cultural and culinary differences, as well as the academic pressure in a country with an advanced education system like South Korea.

Living away from my family for a year will also be a significant challenge, requiring me to become independent and adapt quickly. I hope that after this exchange program, I will become more mature, gain invaluable experiences, and be well-prepared for new opportunities in the future."

Duy Tan University and Chungbuk National University established their Student Exchange Program partnership in 2018. Since then, more than 50 DTU students have studied in South Korea, while over 10 students from Chungbuk have come to DTU to experience the Vietnamese education system.

The 3+2 Joint Training Program for undergraduate and master’s degrees was launched by Duy Tan University and Chungbuk National University on May 29, 2024. Continuing this collaboration, earlier this year, the Korean university introduced the CBNU G-Cruit Scholarship for outstanding postgraduate students from Duy Tan University.

With the strong cooperation between the two institutions, students have had the opportunity to turn their study abroad dreams into reality, paving the way for a journey full of promise and challenges. This serves as a testament to the quality of education at LHSS, Duy Tan University, as well as the potential of Vietnamese youth in the era of global integration.

The eight students selected for the program are from class K27NHB of the Korean Language Department: Le Hong Nhung, Phan Thi Tuong Vi, Nguyen Linh Suong, Nhan Thi Minh, Mai Thi Kim Thu, Nguyen Thu Hien, H Lan Bya, and Pham Thi Yen. At Chungbuk National University, they will not only study in a specialized academic environment but also have the opportunity to learn from experienced professors, explore advanced teaching methods, and engage in cutting-edge research.

Beyond academics, the students will immerse themselves in South Korea’s vibrant culture, experiencing traditional customs, festivals, diverse cuisine, and the local way of life. Living in dormitories alongside international peers will also help them develop communication skills, learn from different cultures, and adapt to a multicultural environment.
