Introduction to The Faculty of Humanlities and Social Sciences
Da Nang City, in particular, and the Central and Central Highlands regions of Vietnam, are experiencing rapid integration and development. Alongside economic growth, issues related to culture, society, and politics have become increasingly important. To meet the growing demand for professionals in the social sciences—particularly in areas such as Vietnamese Studies, Literature, Journalism, Media and Communication, and International Relations—the Department of Social Sciences and Humanities at Duy Tan University was officially established on January 22, 2007 through the integration of the Marxism–Leninism and Ho Chi Minh Thought divisions. The Department aims to educate highly qualified professionals who can contribute to the socio-economic development of Da Nang City and the Central and Central Highlands regions.
Over nearly two decades of development, the Department has remained committed to its mission of "Integrating Education with Research on the Foundation of Modern Humanistic Values." It emphasizes holistic education, encourages adaptability, and fosters respect for diversity, enabling students to succeed in an increasingly interconnected and multicultural world. The Department is also a place where students' aspirations and potential are recognized, nurtured, and empowered.
The Department boasts a dedicated team of full-time faculty members, with approximately 40% holding doctoral degrees (PhD) and 60% holding master's degrees. In addition, distinguished visiting lecturers from leading universities and academic institutions—including the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi), the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City), Hanoi University of Culture, the Academy of Journalism and Communication, and Hue University—bring extensive academic and professional expertise to the classroom. Together, they provide students with a high-quality learning environment that combines academic excellence with practical experience.
Academic Programs
The Department currently offers four undergraduate programs and one specialized language program:
- Applied Literature (Major in Literature and Journalism)
- Media and Multimedia Communication
- International Relations
- Applied Vietnamese Studies (Major in Culture and Tourism)
- Vietnamese Language Program for International Learners
Each program is carefully designed with clearly defined educational objectives and a curriculum tailored to its specific discipline. In addition to providing a strong academic foundation, the Department places great emphasis on developing professional competencies through practical training, hands-on projects, and real-world learning experiences, enabling students to confidently meet the demands of their future careers.
