On the afternoon of July 10, 2025, Duy Tan University hosted a vibrant Cultural Exchange Festival as part of the Blue Steps 2025 program, held from June 30 to July 26, 2025, in collaboration with SunMoon University from South Korea. The event created a colorful and traditional setting, celebrating Vietnamese culture.
The Language and Social Sciences & Humanities (LHSS) department organized the festival, with active involvement from its faculties and student clubs. The event allowed Vietnamese students to showcase their cultural pride and introduced Korean students from SunMoon University to Vietnam’s rich traditions, diverse ethnic groups, and unique cultural identity.
A Diverse Display of Vietnamese Culture
The festival featured an Exhibition of Vietnamese Cuisine and Regional Cultures, with five stalls run by the Korean Language Faculty, English Language Faculty, and the Journalism & Media Club (JC Chance). Each stall highlighted a different region of Vietnam, from the North and Central areas to the Mekong Delta. Visitors enjoyed traditional foods like banh loc (shrimp dumplings), banh nam (steamed rice dumplings), banh phu the (husband-and-wife cake), goi cuon (spring rolls), and che dau xanh (mung bean sweet soup). The stalls also displayed traditional clothing, music, images, and artifacts, creating an engaging and heartfelt experience of Vietnam’s heritage.
A Stage Full of Student Talent
Students from Duy Tan University performed captivating shows, including graceful folk dances, lively modern dances, and songs blending traditional and youthful styles. Performances like the folk song “Beo Dat May Troi,” the “Co La” crane dance, and creative music blends impressed the audience, especially Korean students visiting Vietnam for the first time. These acts showcased a Vietnam that honors its traditions while embracing modern creativity.
Ethnic Fashion – A Colorful Story
The ethnic fashion show was a highlight, with outfits representing Vietnam’s diverse communities. From the ao tu than (four-panel dress) and ao dai to the Nhat binh royal attire, ba ba shirt, Khmer outfits, and modern designs, each piece told a story of Vietnam’s cultural richness and pride.
Awards for Creativity and Effort
The festival ended with an award ceremony recognizing outstanding performances in the arts and fashion competitions. These awards celebrated students’ creativity and dedication, encouraging them to continue promoting Vietnam’s cultural identity in their studies and creative work.
A Meaningful Cultural Connection
The Cultural Exchange Festival was more than an event—it inspired young people to value and share Vietnam’s traditions. It created a fun and creative space for students to deepen their love for their national identity. The festival also highlighted the strong partnership between Duy Tan University and SunMoon University, both committed to fostering global education and cultural exchange.
