On June 20, 2025, Duy Tan University and Showa Women’s University in Japan held an online ceremony to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). This agreement aims to boost international collaboration, creating opportunities for students and faculty to exchange ideas and work together on educational projects.
The Japanese Language Department at Duy Tan’s Faculty of Linguistics and Social Sciences and Humanities worked hard to make this happen.
Showa Women’s University, founded in 1920, is a respected private college for women located in Sangenjaya, Setagaya, Tokyo. Its motto, “Be a Light to the World,” reflects its mission to educate women to become confident leaders in a global society. The university has about 6,500 undergraduate students studying in six faculties with 15 majors. It also offers graduate programs, with around 150 students (including men) in seven master’s and two doctoral programs across three faculties.
The MOU outlines several areas for collaboration:
Mr. Akira Kanao, President of Showa Women’s University, said: “This agreement is an exciting first step toward a strong partnership. I look forward to growing our academic collaborations, especially through student and faculty exchanges, which will help students gain a broader understanding of different cultures and improve their global skills. With Duy Tan University’s strong connections to businesses, we can create excellent internship opportunities for students. Working together on research, seminars, lectures, and inviting scholars to events will lead to meaningful results.”
This MOU with Showa Women’s University highlights Duy Tan University’s commitment to global engagement and strengthens its role in regional and international education.
