Da Nang, June 4, 2025 – The "Never Give Up" (N.G.U) team from the School of Languages & Social Sciences (LHSS) at Duy Tan University achieved a remarkable victory at the Da Nang J-Seiyu 2025 Japanese Film Dubbing Contest. The five students, all majoring in Japanese Language, delivered a captivating performance of a pivotal scene from Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Entertainment District Arc, earning them the championship title.

Hosted by the Japanese Language & Culture Department at the University of Foreign Languages, University of Da Nang, the J-Seiyu contest provides a unique opportunity for Japanese language learners to refine their pronunciation, expressive delivery, and teamwork while deepening their understanding of Japanese culture. This year’s final round attracted teams from across Central Vietnam, each showcasing their skills in Japanese voice acting.

The N.G.U team, consisting of Diệp Thế Khải (Team Leader), Đặng An Hòa, Cao Gia Huy, Nguyễn Thị Linh, and Trần Quốc Trường, chose a dramatic and emotionally intense scene from Demon Slayer’s Entertainment District Arc.

“We selected this scene for its powerful themes of perseverance,” said Khải. “It was a challenging choice, as the anime’s distinctive vocal styles demanded precision, but we wanted to leave a lasting impression.”

Dedication Behind the Scenes

With only one week to prepare, the team immersed themselves in rigorous rehearsals, focusing on:

• Mastering voice modulation to capture complex character emotions
• Perfecting timing and emotional synchronization
• Supporting one another through vocal challenges and fatigue

“Some of us struggled with sore throats, but we stayed committed,” Khải shared. “On stage, we relied on each other, seamlessly covering any mistakes.”

Their hard work paid off with a performance that combined technical accuracy with heartfelt emotion, earning high praise from judges and a warm response from the audience.

This victory marks the first time LHSS’s Japanese Department has claimed the J-Seiyu championship. “Winning this title is a moment we’ll always cherish,” said Khải. “It shows what’s possible when creativity and determination come together.”
