Korean and Vietnamese Students Bring Joy to Da Nang Red Cross Orphanage

On the afternoon of July 15, 2025, students from Duy Tan University in Vietnam and SunMoon University in South Korea came together for a heartfelt charity event at the Da Nang Red Cross Orphanage as part of the Blue Steps 2025 program. The visit left a lasting, warm impression on everyone involved.

The Da Nang Red Cross Orphanage is a nonprofit dedicated to caring for orphaned, abandoned, and disadvantaged children. Since its founding in March 1995, it has supported 565 children, each with their own unique story—some left at birth, others facing physical or mental challenges. The orphanage relies completely on donations from individuals and organizations, as it receives no government funding. Currently, it cares for 18 children, including 3 with intellectual, speech, or motor disabilities and 5 with serious health conditions like heart disease, hepatitis, or complications from premature birth.

The students were warmly welcomed by Mr. Nguyen Tien Lam, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang Red Cross and Director of the orphanage, and Ms. Ha Thi Hoa, the Deputy Director. On behalf of Blue Steps 2025, the group presented a thoughtful gift of 5 million VND in cash and essential supplies for the children.

Beyond the donations, the Korean and Vietnamese students spent meaningful time with the children, playing, talking, and building connections. They folded paper cranes and stars together, wrote down wishes for a hopeful future, and gifted these to the orphanage as symbols of care. The event brought not only gifts but also joy, comfort, and hope, helping the children feel loved and supported despite their challenges.

This charity event was a key part of Blue Steps 2025, teaching students about cultural understanding, kindness, empathy, and the importance of giving back to the community.
