On September 27, 2025, at the 4th-floor Hall of Duy Tan University, the Japanese Language Department in collaboration with the Vietnam - Japan Institute solemnly held the Premiere of the opera film "Princess Anio". This was a special cultural and artistic event, aiming to recreate the historic love story between Princess Ngoc Hoa (Vietnam) and merchant Araki Sotaro (Japan) in the 17th century - a beautiful symbol of the friendship and cultural exchange between the two nations.
The premiere was honored to welcome the presence of distinguished guests from the Japanese Consulate General, the Japanese Consulate, the Chairman of the Japanese Chamber of Commerce in Da Nang, along with many leaders and lecturers of Duy Tan University. The event also attracted a large number of students from universities across the city such as the University of Foreign Languages, the University of Science and Technology, FPT University Da Nang, along with Duy Tan University students and students from Phan Chau Trinh High School, Le Loi High School, and various Vietnam - Japan centers.
The opera film "Princess Anio" profoundly depicted a romantic yet deeply meaningful love story that transcended linguistic and national boundaries. Not merely recounting a love story, the work also conveys a message of attachment, faithfulness, and the enduring spirit of solidarity between the people of Vietnam and Japan.
A special highlight of this premiere was its co-organization by the Japanese Language Department and the Vietnam - Japan Institute at Duy Tan University. This stands as clear evidence of the university's continuous efforts to expand academic and cultural exchanges, while creating opportunities for students to access, experience, and better appreciate the value of the Vietnam - Japan relationship.
The event was not only about art but also contributed to promoting foreign language learning, broadening international perspectives, and nurturing students' aspiration for global integration. Through the film, the audience - especially the youth - had the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the historical context and draw profound, humane lessons for life today.
Following the screening, the program continued with a vibrant exchange session among university students, high school students, and the guests. This was a chance for the younger generation to discuss, make friends, expand their network, and collectively delve deeper into Vietnamese and Japanese cultures.
