On August 2–3, 2025, the School of Language, Humanities, and Social Sciences (LHSS) hosted an enriching community engagement program for its faculty and staff on the serene Cu Lao Cham islands. Designed to foster relaxation, hands-on experiences, and team cohesion, this retreat immersed participants in the island’s pristine natural beauty and tranquil lifestyle, offering a refreshing escape from urban routines.
A short 20-minute speedboat ride from the mainland transported the group to a world of tranquility, where gentle waves caressed the shore, sunlight shimmered across the water, and pristine white beaches stretched into the distance. Cu Lao Cham, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, captivated with its lush greenery and serene ambiance, providing an ideal setting for rejuvenation.

Participants also enjoyed immersive activities, such as swimming at Bai Xep Beach and snorkeling to marvel at Cu Lao Cham’s vibrant coral reef ecosystem—a biodiverse gem that underscores the island’s ecological significance.
The evening brought the group together for a heartfelt gathering, where colleagues shared stories, savored fresh seafood, and bonded amidst the island’s natural splendor. This warm, unpretentious setting fostered deeper connections, strengthening the sense of community within the LHSS family.
