On August 22, 2026, the Korean Language Faculty, University of Languages and Social Sciences (ULSS), Duy Tan University, in collaboration with Jeonbuk National University (JBNU - South Korea), successfully organized an International Conference themed "Roots, Memory, and Solidarity: Recovering Identity and Promoting Social Inclusion." The conference served as an international academic forum to share advanced research, foster intercultural dialogue, and strengthen educational cooperation among training institutions in Asia and around the world.
The event brought together a large number of researchers, speakers, and international scholars to engage in multi-dimensional scientific exchanges. In her address at the conference, Dr. Hoang Thi Huong – Acting Dean of ULSS – expressed: "We believe that the comparative cross-contextual East Asian papers at this conference – from decoding the poetics of urban space in Vietnamese and Korean literature, to empirical anthropological studies on migrant labor, digital archiving of community memory, museum exhibitions and displays, and cultural industries... will open up multi-faceted perspectives, contribute policy recommendations, and establish models of symbiosis and sustainable coexistence for the future."
The conference's working program proceeded vigorously throughout the day with 17 scientific presentations divided into three main sessions. In the first session, speakers focused on exploring transnational memory in Vietnam-Korea relations; reconstructing local identity through local archives; healing mechanisms through the literature of Vu Bang and Hwang Jungeun; and comparative studies on calligraphy, postal communication, and Vietnamese-Korean wedding culture.
The second discussion session delved into studies on Vietnamese nominalization related to Korean language; developing cultural curricula through fairy tales; intercultural English education policies; technical writing materials; and solutions for standardizing national bibliographic data and digital archiving for K-POP.
The final session concluded with highly practical topics: political discourse analysis; media and journalism perspectives between Vietnam and South Korea; images of married migrant women in the works of Seo Seong-ran; EFL teaching methods at Duy Tan University; and the application of human pose estimation technology in analyzing Taekwondo - Vovinam martial arts movements.
The 2026 International Conference concluded successfully after a commemorative photo session with all delegates. The discussion outcomes from the event not only made significant contributions to filling research gaps in memory, language, and media studies but also laid a solid foundation for future interdisciplinary research programs and international cooperation between Duy Tan University and Jeonbuk National University.
