1. Program Overview

In recent years, the bilateral relationship between Vietnam and South Korea has continued to flourish through extensive economic cooperation and vibrant cultural exchanges. As a result, the demand for professionals with strong Korean language proficiency has increased significantly across a wide range of sectors, including tourism, business, entertainment, education, and international services. This growing demand presents excellent career opportunities for students pursuing a degree in Korean Language – Translation and Interpreting.

The Korean Language – Translation and Interpreting program prepares students to become proficient users of the Korean language with professional translation and interpreting skills. In addition to developing advanced language competence, students gain comprehensive knowledge of Korean culture and society, as well as practical insights into the Korean economy and business environment. The curriculum also provides fundamental knowledge of office administration, import–export operations, and human resource management.

To strengthen their professional competencies, students participate in practical learning experiences and internships at Korean enterprises, while also benefiting from opportunities to study in South Korea through academic exchange and international cooperation programs.

To achieve these goals, the Faculty of Korean Language places strong emphasis on recruiting highly qualified lecturers with extensive practical experience working in Korean enterprises, ensuring that students acquire industry-relevant knowledge and professional competencies.

In particular, students receive 100% instruction from native Korean lecturers in Pronunciation and Speaking courses from their first year of study, helping them develop accurate pronunciation and natural communication skills from the beginning. Furthermore, with a large team of Korean visiting lecturers, students have abundant opportunities to communicate directly with native speakers on campus, significantly improving their fluency and confidence in real-world communication.

Guided by a student-centered learning philosophy, education extends beyond the classroom through a variety of academic clubs, including the Korean Language Club and the English Club. These clubs provide students with opportunities to practice Korean and English communication, translation and interpreting skills, Korean-language tour guiding, and collaborative learning to reinforce classroom knowledge.

Beyond academics, students are encouraged to develop their talents and personal interests through extracurricular activities such as the K-Pop Club and the Taekwondo Club, both of which are organized weekly under the guidance and support of faculty members.

2. Career Objectives

The Korean Language – Translation and Interpreting program prepares graduates who are proficient in Korean, possess professional translation and interpreting skills, and have comprehensive knowledge of Korean culture and society. Students also gain practical understanding of the Korean economy, Korean enterprises, office administration, import–export operations, and human resource management. Through internships and experiential learning at Korean companies, together with opportunities to study in South Korea, graduates are well prepared for careers in international workplaces.

Upon graduation, students are qualified for positions such as:

  • Translator

  • Interpreter

  • Office Secretary

  • International Relations Assistant

  • Executive Assistant

  • Other positions in Korean companies and multinational organizations

Professional Skills

Communication and Information Delivery

Graduates will be able to:

  • Demonstrate proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing Korean to effectively translate and interpret between Vietnamese and Korean.

  • Communicate confidently and professionally in Korean across a variety of business and workplace settings.

Communication and Teamwork

Graduates will be able to:

  • Deliver presentations, provide explanations, and present reports effectively.

  • Work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams and professional environments.

Foreign Language and Information Technology Competencies

Graduates are expected to achieve:

  • Korean: Minimum TOPIK Level 4

  • Second Foreign Language: English (TOEIC 450 or above), Chinese (HSK Level 2 or above), or Japanese (JLPT N2 or above)

  • Computer literacy equivalent to the University's intermediate information technology competency requirements.

Upon completing the program, graduates of the Korean Language Program at Duy Tan University are qualified for a wide range of career opportunities, including:

  • Korean-speaking Tour Guide or Tour Operator at travel agencies, tourist attractions, and shopping centers.

  • Korean-speaking Front Office Officer at hotels and resorts.

  • Customer Service Representative in companies and retail chains serving Korean customers.

  • Korean Translator or Interpreter at Departments of Foreign Affairs, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and multinational corporations.

  • International Relations Specialist at Departments of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Service Centers, and translation and notarization offices working with Korean partners.

  • Human Resources, Recruitment, Training, Safety Management, Administrative Officer, or Manager in domestic and international organizations where Korean is used as a working language.
