On the morning of October 20, 2024, the Trade Union of Duy Tan University organized a cooking and flower arrangement competition to celebrate the 94th anniversary of the Vietnam Women’s Union and to mark the 30th anniversary of the founding of Duy Tan University. Participating with a spirit of solidarity, the team from the Faculty of Language, Social Sciences & Humanities (NN-XHNV) won the Encouragement Award for flower arrangement and the Third Prize in cooking, competing against a total of 10 teams.
The competition consisted of two parts: female staff and faculty participated in the flower arrangement, while male staff and faculty were responsible for the cooking. This division not only provided an opportunity for each gender to showcase their talents but also offered a comprehensive view of the mutual support and respect between men and women. Despite the tight preparation time, the faculty at NN-XHNV were enthusiastic to brainstorm ideas and prepare the materials for their team’s entries.
The flower arrangement section allowed the teams to express their creativity and artistry in arranging fresh flowers, producing impressive and vibrant works. Using colors, shapes, and layouts, the 9 participating teams conveyed messages of love and admiration for women. The NN-XHNV team presented a floral arrangement with the theme "Endless Love – Gentle Autumn Colors," which honored Vietnamese women and celebrated the 30 years of proud development at the university.
On the occasion of Vietnam Women's Day (October 20), the involvement of male staff and faculty in the cooking competition was not only a highlight but also demonstrated respect and appreciation for the role of women in society. This action went beyond cooking; it was an act of connection and sharing. The male faculty members showed that in both the family and society, cooking is not only a responsibility of women but also a shared joy, a time for everyone to bond together.
The male faculty members of NN-XHNV demonstrated teamwork and supported one another in each stage, from choosing ingredients to presenting the dishes. What stood out was the creativity in each dish. The "chefs" were unafraid to experiment with new recipes, creating unique and appealing flavors.
With the theme "Connecting Love," each dish, while carrying a different meaning, was united by the core idea of "nurturing," as reflected in dishes like stuffed bitter melon, rolled omelette, steamed snakehead fish with pumpkin, pickled fruits, braised ribs, and even the dessert. These dishes were simple and easy to prepare but offered high nutritional value.
The competition not only provided delicious meals and beautiful floral arrangements but also offered an opportunity for staff and faculty to connect, creating a friendly and joyful atmosphere.
