On November 24, 2024, a group of students from Duy Tan University, including Tan Tri Nguyen (K30, International Relations) and Thi Anh Mai Dinh (K28, English Language), from the Faculty of Language Studies and Social Humanities (LHSS), participated in the Star Awards English competition in the Da Nang cluster and excelled by winning the Third Prize.
Star Awards 2024 is a prestigious, traditional academic "playground" organized annually by the Youth Union and Student Association of Da Nang University in collaboration with National and Regional Universities. The competition aims to discover and nurture talented English-speaking individuals, spreading and inspiring the importance of mastering English as a key to international integration and becoming global citizens.
Under the theme "Healthy Lifestyle for a Healthy Heart," Star Awards 2024 attracted more than 18,000 participants from various universities in Da Nang and the Central Highlands region. After the Preliminary (online) and Semifinal rounds, the top six teams, comprising 18 outstanding individuals, competed enthusiastically in three main rounds: Warm-Up, Speed-Up, and Finish-Line.
The Nexus team, including Thi Anh Mai Dinh and Tan Tri Nguyen (from LHSS, Duy Tan University) and Van Vi Pham (from Pham Van Dong University), impressed the judges and secured the Third Prize.
As a freshman in K30, Tan Tri did not hesitate to challenge himself in this prestigious competition. He shared, "Encouraged by my professors, I boldly registered for Star Awards with the desire to gain experience and learn from senior students and instructors. I was nervous as this was my first time participating in such a large-scale competition. I feel honored to represent our school and bring home the Third Prize. This is an unforgettable memory for a freshman like me."
Anh Mai, a highly dynamic student, has consistently engaged in international student exchange activities to learn and develop herself over the past two years. The third-year student expressed, "The competition was not just an opportunity for me and other young people to showcase our language skills but also a platform to build confidence, presentation skills, and teamwork abilities. Our team would like to thank the faculty for their support from the beginning, especially the dedicated guidance from the English Department and the Center for Global Studies."
The Star Awards 2024 competition concluded with many memorable highlights, offering an exciting experience for the students. LHSS students promise to continue conquering new challenges in the 2024-2025 academic year.
