On November 6, 2024, the final of Hybrid Mobility by Discipline 2024 took place at Bukidnon State University in the Philippines. Participating in Team 17, Thuy Ngoc Dang Thi, a K27 student from the English Department at the Faculty of Language and Social Sciences, Duy Tan University, along with her teammates, excelled and secured the Second Prize.
This marks the third season of Hybrid Mobility by Discipline, with this year’s theme being “Language & Culture in the Workplace.” The competition was organized with the aim of helping ASEAN students broaden their perspectives, explore the dynamic world of the global workplace, and learn how to overcome language and cultural barriers. The competition also aimed to make a difference by guiding international students to adapt to new environments, creating a valuable guidebook for students studying and working abroad. Additionally, it provided an opportunity for students to enhance their intercultural communication skills and promote creativity when working remotely with diverse cultures.
The competition was open to students from universities and organizations within the P2A Association, including Duy Tan University. With 252 students from 20 P2A higher education institutions across Southeast Asia participating, the event highlighted diverse representation from countries including Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, the Philippines, and Vietnam. The competition took place from September 18, 2024, to November 6, 2024.
Having just returned from South Korea after a student exchange program at Yeungnam University, the fourth-year student did not hesitate to continue challenging herself in Hybrid Mobility by Discipline 2024. After two months of working with her team members from various cultures including the Philippines, Indonesia, and Singapore, Thuy Ngoc and her team were fortunate to make it to the finals. Through efforts and feedback from the judges during the previous round, Team 17 made necessary adjustments and successfully impressed the panel to win the Second Prize.
Thuy shared: "The topic our team focused on was adapting to the language and office culture in South Korea. Thanks to the hands-on experience I had in South Korea this past August, I worked with my team to research information and design a booklet for our presentation to the judges. I feel very happy and proud of the efforts I made throughout this journey in the competition."
