On February 27, 2024, Gyeongsangbuk Province, the Gyeongbuk Cultural Foundation, Catholic Daegu University, the Global Education Department at Yeongnam University (South Korea), in collaboration with the Faculty of Foreign Languages at Hue University, organized the "Gyeongsangbuk Do - Vietnam 2024 Speaking Contest" at the Faculty of Foreign Languages, Hue University. Thi Thuy Linh Le, a K26 student from the Korean Language Department at the Faculty of Languages and Social Sciences, Duy Tan University, excelled and reached the final round, bringing home the Bronze Medal.
After overcoming numerous competitors in the preliminary rounds, 12 outstanding students from Duy Tan University, the University of Foreign Languages – Da Nang University, Dong A University, and the University of Foreign Languages – Hue University showcased their talents in the final round. Despite being a final-year student busy with graduation internships, Thuy Linh managed to make time for the competition, supported and encouraged by her professors. Thuy Linh shared: "I feel very lucky and grateful for the opportunity to participate and win the Bronze Medal in this competition. I know I still have many shortcomings and need to learn more, but I wanted to participate to challenge myself, gain experience, and perhaps have the chance to apply what I've learned in practice. This is my first time participating in a competition, but during my studies, I have been involved in exchanges with teachers, schools, and Korean students, and I also have many Korean friends. I believe these experiences helped me a lot in this competition."
With her speech on the topic "The Gyeongsangbuk-do City I Want to Visit," Thùy Linh confidently gave her best performance before the judges. Her presentation was highly praised, earning her the Bronze Medal in the final. This event provided an opportunity for students from the Korean Language Department, Faculty of Languages and Social Sciences, Duy Tan University, to exchange experiences and promote their image to other universities. It was also a great opportunity for students studying Korean across the country to meet, interact, and share experiences.
