Participating in the student exchange program at Yeungnam University (South Korea), students Dang Thi Thuy Ngoc and Nguyen Thi Thanh Hai - K26 from the Faculty of English, School of Language and Social Sciences, Duy Tan University, have achieved numerous accomplishments in the Land of the Morning Calm. Their study period in South Korea is from August 27, 2023, to August 27, 2024, and three students from Duy Tan University have been selected as exchange students there.
With the goal of searching for future generations with new ideas and diverse positive energy contributing to the development of society, Yeungnam University launched a creative content and video competition under the theme “Dream of becoming a Global Leader with Yeungnam University”. Filled with the enthusiasm of the Gen Z generation, Thuy Ngoc created an outstanding product and won the Impressive Award. Thanh Hai also excellently won the second prize.
From late April 2024 to May 19, 2024, Yeungnam University continued to organize a competition with the theme “Reminisce on your moments of Yeungnam University”. This period coincided with the students’ final exams and also marked the end of their exchange program. The competition was held to reminisce about the memories of international exchange students during their time at the university, experiencing life and studying in the beautiful and culturally rich country of South Korea. Thuy Ngoc and Thanh Hai also excelled in the competition, winning the first prize.
Thuy Ngoc – The passionate student in volunteer activities
An energetic student, Thuy Ngoc has actively participated in many activities during her time at Duy Tan University. It is known that Thuy Ngoc was the president of the Hti’s Volunteer Club, a top 100 outstanding volunteer leaders nationwide honored at the “Youth Contribution to the Community” ceremony in 2023, and the Media Ambassador of AIESEC. She is very enthusiastic in charity programs and youth activities such as "Warm Winter for the Highlands" and "Mid-Autumn Festival for Children".
Thuy Ngoc shared: "Being selected to go to Korea is one of the dreams I never thought I could achieve, so when I had the lucky opportunity to be chosen as an exchange student in South Korea for a year, I truly cherish every moment in this beautiful country. To study, play, and experience a new culture, meet friends from all over the world is a golden opportunity to help me grow in the future, especially as a student majoring in languages. I am learning a new language and improving my English skills every day. Moreover, I am developing independence and strength in a foreign environment, away from the comfort of my family."
The talented student emotionally shared: "During my time in South Korea, I received enthusiastic support and supervision from Duy Tan University and the Faculty of English. Thanks to the workshops and exchanges between Duy Tan and students from Singapore, I gained more passion and was encouraged to participate more actively in international programs. I am grateful to Duy Tan for opening many opportunities for students like me to integrate internationally."
Thanh Hai – The student passionate about languages
A student passionate about foreign languages, Thanh Hai can communicate in English, Chinese, and is currently learning Korean as well. With a desire to seek opportunities to improve her language skills, Thanh Hai eagerly participates in competitions, programs, and exchange activities with foreign students. She has also participated in the “Han Yu Bridge” program, organized by universities in China, aimed at creating opportunities for international students to learn and exchange in Chinese.
Thanh Hai said: "Since I was young, I always dreamed of studying abroad in South Korea. However, after graduating from high school, I chose to pursue a major in English at Duy Tan University. It seems like fate brought me closer to South Korea, and Duy Tan University helped me realize my childhood dream. Being an exchange student at Yeungnam University in South Korea is truly a memorable and enriching experience for me. It’s not only an opportunity to broaden my knowledge, but also a journey of self-discovery, experiencing diverse cultures, and creating unforgettable student memories."
