On the morning of November 23, 2024, the Union of Friendship Organizations of Da Nang City and the Vietnam-China Friendship Association of Da Nang, in cooperation with the Consulate General of China in Da Nang, the Vietnam Television Center for Central and Central Highlands regions (VTV8), and other relevant units, organized the Final Round of the National Chinese Public Speaking Competition – Da Nang 2024.
The Final Round took place at Duy Tan University, with 32 of the best contestants from 29 universities, academies, and Chinese language centers across 17 provinces and cities. Duy Tan University had two representatives from the Faculty of Language and Social Sciences, and the final results brought home one Third Prize and one Encouragement Award.
This annual competition, held since 2015, has been elevated from a regional event in Central and Central Highlands to a national scale. After nearly two months of launch, the organizing committee received over 250 quality entries from 40 universities, academies, and Chinese language centers across 18 provinces and cities. After two preliminary rounds, the committee selected 32 outstanding contestants, including Thanh Dam Nguyen and Thi Ngoc Lan Nguyen, students from the Chinese Language Department at the Faculty of Language and Social Sciences, Duy Tan University.
Both are dynamic and passionate students of Chinese. With thorough preparation, continuous practice, and enthusiastic support from their teachers in the Chinese Department, Thanh Dam and Ngoc Lan convincingly passed the qualifying round to reach the final.

After nearly a day of watching the contestants compete in public speaking, the jury selected 9 outstanding contestants for the final ranking. The contestants all answered the same question, with each presenting their unique perspective through their speeches.
Thanh Dam shared: "For me, this competition was an opportunity to challenge myself, step out of my comfort zone, and continually improve. I prepared thoroughly with the knowledge I had and maintained a high level of determination. In the final, I confidently presented my thoughts and viewpoints, striving to deliver an impressive performance. Although the result left some regrets, the most valuable thing I gained were the lessons learned, the encouragement, support, and affection from everyone throughout the journey."
The achievements of the students from the Faculty of Language and Social Sciences, Duy Tan University, in the Chinese Public Speaking Competition 2024 not only reflect their excellent academic abilities but also demonstrate the university's strong commitment to the holistic development of students.
The Chinese Department teachers have always supported students, not just academically, but also by providing real-world environments that help students hone their communication and presentation skills.
This event also serves as an opportunity for the Faculty of Language and Social Sciences, Duy Tan University, to affirm its position in foreign language training, especially Chinese, contributing to the creation of a dynamic, creative, and internationally integrated learning environment.
