Celebrating the 5th Anniversary of the Department of Chinese Language: Reflecting on the Journey, Looking Toward the Future

From March 27 to 30, 2025, the Department of Chinese Language, Faculty of Language and Humanities (LHSS), Duy Tan University successfully organized a practical field trip for the course “Cognitive Internship” in Quy Nhon, Binh Dinh. This journey also included the 5th anniversary celebration of the Department of Chinese Language and the Talkshow "Sharing Opportunities - Connecting the Future." The event was not only an occasion to reflect on the Department's development but also a valuable opportunity for students to engage with experts, alumni, and recruiters, expanding their perspectives on future career paths.

A 5-Year Milestone – A Proud Journey

Established in 2020, the Department of Chinese Language, LHSS, Duy Tan University has continuously strived to innovate its curriculum, improve teaching quality, and expand international cooperation. Over the past five years, the Department has trained hundreds of talented students, many of whom have secured stable jobs at foreign companies, media agencies, or pursued higher education in China, Taiwan, and other countries.

While five years may not seem like a long period, it is enough for the Department to take pride in what has been accomplished. From humble beginnings, the Department now boasts a team of highly qualified faculty members, modern facilities, and, most notably, a dynamic and ambitious student community.

Real-Life Experience – Learning from Practice

Through the curriculum, students in the Department of Chinese Language have the opportunity to experience diverse forms of learning, exemplified by the practical field trip in Quy Nhon for the “Cognitive Internship” course. This trip allowed students to directly interact with their future professional environment. Students participated in various engaging team-building activities and visited scenic spots in Quy Nhon, which helped them develop a deeper love for their homeland and an enhanced understanding of culture and tourism.

As part of the program, students had the opportunity to interact with a Taiwanese teacher and experienced tour guides from both domestic and international backgrounds during the Talkshow "Sharing Opportunities - Connecting the Future."

During the talkshow, Mr. Lam Hien Quan provided a realistic perspective on the expectations employers have for language students, particularly in the tourism and travel industry. Through real-life stories and his professional experience, he helped students better understand the skills they need to develop in order to compete in the labor market.

At the event, the speakers shared valuable insights into the job market for Chinese language specialists, particularly the increasing demand for positions in translation and interpretation, logistics, e-commerce, tourism, and media. In addition, soft skills such as communication, teamwork, critical thinking, and the use of technology were emphasized as key factors for students' success after graduation.

Connecting – Spreading – Developing

The journey concluded with handshakes between faculty members, businesses, and students, opening up numerous opportunities for collaboration, internships, and employment. This event not only marked a special milestone in the Department’s five-year history but also served as a stepping stone toward achieving new accomplishments in the future.

In the coming years, the Department of Chinese Language aims to continue improving the quality of education, expand international partnership programs, and strengthen connections with businesses, ensuring that graduates can seamlessly integrate into professional working environments.
