Affirming Talent: LHSS Student Wins Second Prize in the Japanese Speech Contest

On the occasion of its 10th anniversary, Vietnam Japan University organized a series of events on October 12, 2024, including the Japanese Speech Contest, which attracted students from universities across the country. Among the many contestants, Diệp Thế Khải, a student from the Japanese Department at the School of Language and Humanities, Duy Tan University, excelled and won the Second Prize, affirming his talent and dedication to learning and using the Japanese language.

The Khai received the award at the competition.

Despite being only a sophomore, The Khai achieved the N2 level in Japanese, equivalent to level 5/6 on Vietnam's foreign language proficiency framework (comparable to the graduation standard for Japanese language majors). His hard work and the opportunities provided by the university to develop essential skills for his major allowed him to build a solid foundation in Japanese, enabling him to seize the best opportunities. The Khai recently completed a year of study in Japan after receiving a scholarship from the Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho - MEXT), an annual scholarship awarded by Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology to outstanding international students.

The Khai received a certificate of completion of 1 year of study in Japan.

For the Japanese Speech Contest, Vietnam Japan University conducted a preliminary evaluation, selecting eight outstanding contestants to deliver their presentations live. With the theme The Future of Vietnam-Japan Cooperation from My Perspective, The Khai presented a speech that was both innovative and practical. Drawing from his one-year experience in Japan, he chose the topic The Relationship Between Individuals as the Foundation for the Development of Both Nations to share his story with the audience.
