A Peaceful Mind, A Peaceful Life" Tea Culture Immersion Experience

On the afternoon of December 26, 2025, the "A Peaceful Mind, A Peaceful Life" tea culture immersion program, organized by the Fagu Academy (Taiwan), took place at Duy Tan University. The event offered students a serene, profound, and deeply humane space for cultural engagement. The program served not only as an international cultural exchange activity but also as an opportunity for students to step away from their busy academic routines and turn inward toward tranquility and inner balance.

The program was attended by a large number of students from the Chinese Language Faculty, University of Languages and Social Sciences (ULSS). Within an elegantly designed and tranquil tea ceremony setting, participants were guided step-by-step to perceive tea not merely as a familiar beverage, but as a medium for spiritual nourishment, connecting individuals with themselves and the enduring values of Eastern culture.

Through the practice and appreciation of tea, the program employed the "A Peaceful Mind, A Peaceful Life" method—an approach focusing on calming the body and mind, and cultivating mindfulness in each moment. Participants were invited to slow down, listen to their emotions, observe their breath, and feel their own presence within the quiet space. This allowed students to gradually move from an external sensory experience to internal reflection, opening avenues for deep contemplation on positive living, balance, and the ability to self-regulate emotions in both their studies and daily lives.

A highlight of the program was the introduction to a range of traditional tea varieties, encompassing their origins, characteristics, preparation methods, and the depth of knowledge hidden within each tea's flavor profile. With each cup, students not only sensed the subtlety of tea ceremony culture but also gained a deeper understanding of the philosophy of harmony between humanity and nature—a core value in Eastern thought. Each introduced tea variety carried its own story and message, helping tea appreciators cultivate patience, mindfulness, and an appreciation for the simple things in everyday life.

The program also facilitated opportunities for students to interact, exchange ideas, and share reflections after each experiential segment. Many students expressed their admiration for the gentle yet profound approach of tea culture and recognized that nurturing their inner lives is a crucial element in maintaining balance between studies, work, and social relationships. Against the backdrop of increasing academic pressure and the fast pace of modern life, healing and nurturing activities like the "A Peaceful Mind, A Peaceful Life" program delivered practical and long-lasting value.

Extending beyond personal experience, the program also contributed to enriching students' spiritual lives, encouraging them to develop habits of self-reflection, emotional management, and building a harmonious lifestyle. This initiative is also part of the ongoing efforts by the Chinese Language Faculty at ULSS, Duy Tan University, to diversify educational activities, combining specialized training with the holistic development of learners' character and spirit.

The "A Peaceful Mind, A Peaceful Life" tea culture immersion concluded in a warm atmosphere, leaving a lasting, positive impression on all participants. The values of tranquility, mindfulness, and balance sown within the tea ceremony space promise to continue accompanying students on their journey of learning, growth, and shaping a positive lifestyle in the future.
