It is a major that provides students with basic knowledge of literary theory, popular knowledge of culture and language, and extensive knowledge of Vietnamese literature and famous literature in the world. Students studying Literature will be trained in thinking skills, methodologies to help study literature, teaching methods, and methods to improve their ability to perceive literature and compose literature. In addition, this major helps students have a high sense of responsibility, instill national pride, have good moral qualities, and appreciate and promote the humanistic values of the nation, in order to build a healthy literary life.
However, in response to social needs, the Literature department of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities of Duy Tan University has turned to Applied Literature, majoring in Journalism. The program of this major is built on the foundation of Language and Literature.
Building in the direction of application, the Literature major, majoring in Journalism Literature is not only oriented towards critical research but also expanded to serve the field of journalism and communication. This training direction shows the ability to develop and innovate in accordance with the development trend of the industry and the needs of society; opening up many learning and employment opportunities for students.

Literature, majoring in Journalism at Duy Tan University, is built in the direction of Applied Literature, meeting the needs of innovation in accordance with the development trend of the Literature industry and the needs of society. This major is not only oriented toward the study of literary criticism but also expands to serve the field of journalism and communication.
Specifically, it can be seen that the specialized training program in Journalism Literature provides students with in-depth theoretical knowledge in the field of literature and language, journalism, and communication; students are equipped with good working skills to adapt quickly to work (research skills, criticism; sensing and teaching literature, journalism writing, newspaper editing, publishing, organizing media events, building, organizing, managing literary research activities, press, media);
With the knowledge acquired, many students majoring in Journalism Literature, Duy Tan University graduated from the school and have stable jobs, many of them are currently working at press and media agencies in the central provinces and the whole country (Ho Chi Minh City, Kontum, Hanoi, Da Nang, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai...)
In terms of the number of modules, the Journalism Major has 30 modules, of which 12 are in the field of Literature, specifically: Foundation of Literary Theory, Vietnamese Literature from Folklore, Middle Modern to Modern and Contemporary, Western Literature, Asian Literature; Language modules such as Phonics – Vocabulary – Grammar, Linguistic interpretation ...; The rest are mostly modules on Journalism such as Journalism Theory, History of Journalism, Language of Journalism, Types of Journalism...

Students majoring in Literature and Journalism, in addition to the basic and general knowledge of journalism and communication, are also equipped with the knowledge and skills of a journalist: Interviewing, writing news, articles, filming, photography ... in all types of journalism: Print newspapers, Spoken newspapers, Television, Electronic newspapers ... legal knowledge, ethics of journalists.
